4e'06 east coast park bbq day.
Long-winded
ness ahead (you've been warned that page may lag). =D
Met anzhen at my bus stop. Realised that we both are taking the same bus as gilson and jinyuan.
(Lols anyway we four meeting same time same place, though heading different directions for the bbq.) Took 60 to bedok interc

AMBER BEACON. XD (At night, the lamppost is actually even brighter than the light given off at the top of the beacon lo.)

(versus 9 guys -.-") at the moment mah.

After 5pm already, starting the fire.
We are the firestarters.
(Selling at 6 for $1, very cheap only, come buy!)After lighting the fire, we realised that there are billions of ants living underneath the charcoal plate there.
Ants were escaping out in groups, shiyi/jeremy/chenyuan arrived, anzhen mentioned her GPA.And after very long, ants still continue to rush out due to the heat. This is
how we finally (yay) settled the ant trouble. Hurray for sparklers!
In a discussion. The food seemed so little. We were afraid that there was not enough food.
But in the end, the food is of just-nice amount (according to darrylchiang), not too little and not too much. =P-
Night approaches, dinner time.

Then the guys had to
extinguish the big fire by pouring liquid into the fire. (Lols i rewatched the video and thought was kinda funny sia. -_-)

Okies. Apparently i've moved. Whee.
Things as usual. The norm. Super simple and plain layout
(of the colour i like best). The left side thing looks a bit weird i know, it looks greenish instead of blueish man. No tagboard. Center alignment
(which means no matter what screen resolution also won't mess up, yay). Just worried that someone might kill me for the top banner. That person should be in dreamland right now
(and why am i not slping yet?) i think.

Yay it didn't rain on 15mar08.
Since there're quite a lot of pics yet to be received yet, and also that there're too many pics, i have to post in different bulks.
So this post is only the stayover at woody's house. Didn't take much pics. Cus doesn't seem v polite to take pics around his house. Only took a few in our room.
Big house. 2 storeys. "Walkable distance" from marine parade.
(LOLS we walked quite a distance leh at midnight...) Dogless, but then got electronic sensors everywhere.
(The neighbourhood already got several dogs, one person walk pass the street, one dog starts barking and others follow suit. Noisy sia. XD) 6 toilets. All bedrooms got balcony and toilet inside (we all so envy sia). His family very welcoming. Sandy
(his younger sis in bedokgreen sec) will always come in and check whether we have enough drinks and snacks or not. Notice that the children in the family all have cartoon characters' names, i forget the elder sis' name though.
We stayed inside this entertainment room, or he calls it the music room (due to the piano).
One jug of room temperature water, one jug of cold water.
One bowl of fruits (shiny apples and bananas).
One tray of cups with fruit juice and one cup of soya milk.
After all of us bathed, we watched tv, and darrylchiang was like playing sims on woody's com the whole night. Lols he created "The Gayster Family", which is a couple of two men. -___-
Tv too sian, and we were too tired, so slept.
Morning already (we wanted to go back east coast watch sunrise de, but then too tired want slp more, somemore we cannot leave the house cus nobody in his family awake to lock up the house after us, so we stayed in). Four out of seven woke up first, then we four played some boliao games while waiting for them to wake up.

Chiang last to wake up. Cus he spent his night playing sims. We noticed that he changes his slping posture like every ten minutes. =_= Hard to wake him up. Lols chenyuan said in a very
teh voice, "Honey... 起床了啦！" Almost wanted to puke.
Woody's garden got some small trees. Which are trimmed like bonsai lo. They trimmed the leaves until the trees all round shape de leh, so cute.
The maid walk here and there in the living room, lols we saw a figure lo (cus the wall is made of frosted glass tiles) like zzzzzzzzzz sia. The garden watering system is auto one. Everything in the house is so interesting to us. We don't live in such luxury mah.
Then his parents and maid prepared breakfast for us. Two pizzas, a lot of french toasts, one cup of warm milk tea
(the tea really got very nice and rich taste lo) each, one bowl of bobo chacha
(very thick and smooth coconut cream, some cubes of sweet potatoes and yam) each. Lols
life is great. Wahahahahhas.
Felt like a vacation. So much better than a chalet.
Afternoon we watched the guys play playstation2. They played killzone. Then single player resident evil 4. Darn funny sia. The resident evil guy dressed until very nice, got coat, scarf and fedora hat. Then got one control can let the character take out hat and put back to act shuai. LOLS got once chenyuan disiaosiao make the character do the remove hat act shuai. Then kenna zombie attack halfway while taking off the hat. XD Then got once the zombie suddenly backstab we got shock. Lols sia. Funny and kanchiong lo. Then another rpg game which the character is a gangster, steal cars and fly plane etc.
Afternoon sandy brought in some sandwiches for us.
Overall the stay was really v shuang. But feel bad of us to disturb the family. 白吃白住 leh hahs.

I've got one hour to spare. Just back from teaching drill.
Hungrrrrry. -__- But then eat like not suitable leh. *stomach growls*
Just now (and even now) the weather is quite fiery. Easily can get sunburnt. Burninggg.
Woke up with a headache. But after being in the sun for some time, the slight fever seemed to have evanesced. This is called "
use exterior hotness to counteract interior hotness". Lols i crapped that phrase out.

Don't know later on will rain or not. Cus according to the weather report from
NEA, it says the west side (jurong, clementi, tuas, lim chu kang) is currently having showers. o_0
Okies here checking again, the website says everywhere is partly cloudy only. Hahs changes very fast sia the weather. Unpredictable.
Packed up everything already. Shall go bathe at 2pm. Meet anzhen at the bus stop nearby at 2.35pm.
If really rain hor, got backup plan liao. We have know at least 3 umbrellas (and more i hope). And the ground sheet. Those bb+ncc boys will help to tie the ground sheet up to the lamp posts to cover the whole pit, LOLS *applause for the experts*.

Since it has been raining for the past three days, i think the rain won't last till saturday though. But who knows. LOLS rain we cannot control. We can only do counter measures. At least two umbrellas will be brought.

Now as the plans are 95% settled, i feel not as stressful. So where did the 5% go? The 5% is mainly haven't decided the meeting time for the pple who carry stuffs over to east coast, and money passover, contact shengxiong n jianhao about their journey. But all prices are done with already.
Maybe i should have a
FAQ here. (And yup. Indeed asked very often.)
"Why no need to pay for the bbq?"So fast forget about the $20 for miss ho's wedding gift already arh? Ya, this bbq is planned using the leftover money. Thus budget is pretty tight. Scrimp here and there. And we managed to plan out the budget just enough, perhaps except lacking several dollars (which is not a big problem).
"What time?"LOLS... Eh basically anytime. Cus the pit is standard, booked from 12noon to 8am (the next day). And we're preparing to ton overnight
(no tent, so sad, sob sob). But we're assuming people come at
5pm. If you want come earlier it's okie de, just that nobody will be there yet before 3pm. =X
"Where?"ECP, Area C, Pit** (pit number is censored to maintain privacy lols, please come ask me yourself if you happen to forget, or go ask any relevant 4e people). The pit is quite near to the underpass leading towards
marine parade central (strategic location eh). I'm sure everybody knows how to get to marine parade bah, since it's so near. Lols.
"Is miss ho (now mrs tan) coming for the bbq?"Yes, she is informed about it, and she is coming. (LOLS we even chose the pit area super-near to her house! XD)
"How many people going?"It's an estimation of twenty-plus people; should be below thirty.
Just to outline a bit on the preparations.
Today
(wednesday) 4 of us went shengsiong
(lols budget-est supermart) bought 8 bottles of 1.5L drinks
(5 carbonated, 3 non-carbonated), cups, plates, tongs, firstarters, marshmellows, oil brush and serviettes. Subtotal for "ss" is $26.40.
On saturday, the manpower mobilised is possibly max-ed at 11
(lols a bit too many o.0). Will be split into two groups for two different routes.
Group 1: darryl yin, anzhen, zhili, kimhong, jovin
(may not be able to make it).
Group 2: darryl chiang, woody, gilson, andy, shengxiong
(haven't inform him the details yet), jianhao
(haven't inform details, pending and may switch to group 1).
Group 1 meets at bedok interc, then take 197 to marine parade. Stuffs taking: all those bought at ss supermarket, a tumbler (zl), an ice box (kh), 2 lighters (zl&kh), a pair of scissors (dy), can opener (dy), 4 tins of canned fruits in syrup (zl&kh), some charcoal (kh), at least 2 umbrellas in case of bad weather (az&kh). Buy ice and fills up the tumbler at marine parade. Prepare the fruit cocktail and set up pit area. (Thankfully darrylyin has
halal can opener and scissors, or else we have to buy new ones at our own expense liao.)
Group 2 meets 3pm at bedok interc. Taking bus 32 twice. Sent the map and bus route to darrylchiang and gilson already. Ordered the items from bbqwholesale thru phone liao. They are to go to kembagan for collection on that day.
Stuffs ordered at bbqwholesale are otah, chicken satay, beef satay, sauce, 3 joint wings, sambal sotong, hotdogs, crabsticks, margarine, forks, spoons, trashbags, charcoal and wiremesh. Subtotal for "bbqws" is $99.55 cus their otah happened to have monthly promotion lols.
Not counting in the pit rental ($16), so the total cost is $125.95 (excludes ice).
Lols that was a pretty long summary of the plans.
I still have some tasks on hand.
Friday need to remind darrylchiang about it, cus he scared he will forget (like today, not again XD). Help jingwen get to the location, cus he don't know how to go. Inform shengxiong and jianhao. Arrange a meeting time for group 1. Pass money over to chiang by friday (or saturday morning). Check that group 2 understands their mission (lols mission?).

Mm i seriously like to see participation. Seeing people with enthusiasum in this event makes me happy. Happy to have people contributing their time and energy to help out, happy to know that people are coming, etc. Been involved in this class' events for the forth year already, since sec three, somehow made me grow a lot. I just dunno how to say. Of course i don't gain money or what, but i gained experience and a lot of satisfaction. But tired liao arh all these years, lols maybe this is the last time i'm helping to plan, or i need a long rest. Planning kills a lot of brain cells sia.
A simple way out, is a gathering whereby people are called to eat at some place together. It's not as stressful, only three things to be done (decide place and time, contact and confirm with number of people coming, book tables). But like that, no more personalization and sense of belonging liao wor. Not completely pointless, but this might lose the meaning.
