It'd be good to compile some housing infomation here i guess. Easy for referencing too.

Disclaimer: Information researched is possibly subjective and may contain inaccuracy.

Singapore is known to have the most expensive public housing in world. Public housing here is largely known as "HDB flats".

People in other countries often mistake singapore's public housing being meant for the lower income. This is because developed places like England and Australia have public housing at much much lower cost per square metre, after the currency conversion.
About 85% of Singaporeans live in HDB flats.
A comment at Y!Answers mentioned if HDB are for the poor, would the poor be able to afford $150k for a small HDB unit?

To purchase a 2-room flat, the buyer's gross monthly household income cannot exceed $2k.
For a 3-room flat, it cannot exceed $3k.
For a 4-room flat, it cannot exceed $8k.

Generally, a diploma yields a starting salary of $1.5-2k per month. (Yes, it's that pathetic.)

Were thinking of a 3-room flat to save money (so that we need not wait till 9 years to earn sufficient downpayment to get the house and be ready to tie the knot) and since we do not need a big house anyway.

However, we might not be qualified for the 3-room flat, if our total income exceeds $3k.

But on the other hand, i scrutinized the rules and regulations on this. Suddenly realized the text "buyer's gross monthly household income".

Does it mean a single person's salary? Or the whole family?

I am sure confused. But this is crucial, very.

To cut cost (hence to save time/years).
The longer it's dragged, the higher the chances of having mishaps along the way lols byebye.

Housing prices are generally affected by two main factors: location and size.

In tiny singapore, land = money.

Punggol currently is, and will be spanning for a decade i foresee, a heavily planned site for tons of new flats. They are trying to encourage more people to live there by constructing some fanciful recreational park stuffs there, and opening the lrt gradually.

Punggol is comparatively cheap, but location sucks. -_- Too far out, not very accessible to many places.

Bt panjang has some lands still. But we both don't like, though it's near to the parents. It's rather inconvenient i find. I dislike the lrt, cus it's jerky and very freaking slowww.

And btw an extra piece of irrelevant information: an eligible person can only buy up to a maximum of 2 housing units from HDB.

For new flats (known as direct purchase from HDB), there will be not grants, except for AHG (additional cpf housing grant).
According to the table in the link, we can possibly get an estimated cpf grant of $25-30k.

For old flats (known as resale flats), there are a number of grants as shown here.

But i have a question. It says that they will provide a subsidy of the amount. BUT i am confused again. Does it mean free money from the gvn'ment OR does it simply means that we make use of our own cpf money to pay?

I can't help feeling that they mean the latter. =c

I actually don't mind old or new houses (since we can always paint the walls and renovate it), but lg prefers new unit though.

A twenty-something-year housing installment scheme seems quite long. But no choice. Six digits to repay zz. Everything needs lot of money next time.

Btw the executive flat looks good.
I like the allocation of the study and dining areas, and there's a balcony too. But i'm concerned about the kitchen toilet that seems too far away from the two other minor bedrooms.

Just saying it looks nice, not that i want it, ha ha.

And the 5-room flat looks damn freaking huge, there's even a relaxation corner wth. So big space like wasted also though lols.

This is another executive flat which looks really amazing with all the weird wall shapes (check out the study room and master bedroom). A must-see. It's super not typical lo.

Lols think too much liao, even got discuss which kinds of furniture we want. -_-

I want the kitchen set to be L-shaped.
And we both want no walls between the kitchen and living room. Demolish the confining walls.
Lg wants to demolish storeroom wall to enlarge the kitchen (if available and possible).
Agreed to have hanging lamps instead of those flat ceiling lamps.
Bed frame without confining structures (open at the sides) at most only a headboard.
Keeping a cat is possible and would be within estimated household income. (He likes young kitten, but i think an older teenage cat would be easier to manage.)
Lg wants a big tv, but i don't think we should be wasting the money ha ha.
Need a study corner/room for two.
No leather sofa.
Lg wants a L-shaped sofa long enough for him to lie and watch tv.
Etc etc etc etc etc.

LOLS~ A bit far to think actually. But happy mah.

Household expenditure also planned already, hence explaining the presence of nine years zzz.

But i think (and hope) can be faster leh. Leh leh.

Jialat, like i said, we have the same bad habits.

But i'm sort of more pessimistic, lg is very optimistic.
Both very stubborn, but most of the time he wins.
Sleep a lot at inappropriate times, but often awake in the wee hours.
I think we can be considered quite independent, preferring to roam alone.

I can like cook two types of dishes: really simple dishes and fanciful experimental dishes.
Really simple dishes include instant noodles with egg, and stir-fry veggie and fish.
Fanciful experimental dishes include instant noodles with apple-soupbase and mushrooms with whatever i can find in the fridge, and linguine pasta mixed with cream sauce and weird/random ingredients dug from fridge.
(Btw that apple-soupbase was really interesting leh, the soup tasted pleasantly sweet. =D A proud self-creation.)

I will pick up more solid cookery skills next time don't worry, since we both prefer homecooked food.

First week of april.


Pathetic room rendering, one-point perspective.

The trip to red dot design museum in tanjong pagar, which showcases a number of award-winning contemporary designs.

Which i thought it looks very much like babies' milk bottles.


Chio painting by a local artist - the canvas can be rearranged in three different ways.


One award-winning design which i thought was really stupid. -_-
It is a table cloth that has the structures of bowls and plates too, which you need not have dishes to contain the food. You can just wash the whole table cloth to reuse.


The museum's washroom has a concrete-feel. (Brutalism!)


The smaller/furrier/whiter dog, which is more hyperactive, at the flea market of the museum.


The bigger-but-skinnier/sleeker/darker dog.


The darker dog has very sleek black fur! Shiny...
(And btw, i do prefer that dark one than the furry-white one, because i prefer animals which are not too active and look more sophisticated lols.)

Left museum, and went to eat nearby.


A nice landscape outside subway at 8 shenton way building.
It has two sculptures of children playing in the water-feature.


Loled at my liquidpaper-applied-with-cottonpad clouds and the weird fountain at the swimming pool. Cmi.


So happy finally got to read the tales of the beedle the bard!
By jk rowling, this book has been referenced in the harry potter final series (a main plot to the deathly hallows).
Honestly, the chapters are a bit boring (because this is supposedly a children's book for the wizarding world, which is similar to our muggle's cinderella and snow white stuffs), it teaches many morals though.
Only one that i enjoyed is the tales of the three brothers, which is already covered in the harry potter final book.

Not fore-planned, it's by luck and chance to know of it. Happened to be at the right area and right timing for david archuleta anyway.

Excited. Because you see, what are the chances of singers coming to singapore man (no, i'm not talking about those chinese singers).

Of the whole world, they had to choose asia.
Of asia, they had to choose southeast asia.
Of southeast asia, they had to choose singapore.
Woots. The chances are like damn slim.

Even those like jasonmraz and mychemicalromance did came to singapore a few years ago, you need to pay lots to get into their concerts.

For this, it's free. Though bad conditions and views, at least it's better than nothing.

Autograph session. The fans were not supposed to take close-up shots and shake hands while on stage.

Somewhere while he was signing halfway, he suddenly (for no reasons at all) looked up at our direction. Excitedly, we waved to him like crazy. He waved back too LOLS. Happy happy...

And i've always thought he could have had a better hairstyle.

Although davidcook looks better than him (and probably cooks better too -.-), archuleta's voice when singing live was really awesome man, much better than the recorded version.

The climax was when he sang his main hit crush, then everybody start to sing together, "going aa-way, ee-yeh, ee-yeh, ee-yeh-ee-yeh-eh..."

I did record some videos, but mostly were bad views (plus bad cam quality) and bad sounds (lots of screaming).
I reckoned that since there were thousands of people holding a cam on that day, there must be at least dozens of videos uploaded onto youtube.

Hence i embed a rather good quality one here. It loads very fast too (it's not the whole thing that's why).



I still find it amazing that he's only like a few months younger than me zz.


D-archuleta's minibus parked at the back of iluma.
There are fans camping there, waiting to stalk him when he finishes the autograph session.


Lols do they really think that da will email them?
(Oh btw this shows the vehicle is dusty and they ought to clean it already.)

Second week.


One thing i like is the sour tape.
(Note that i like, doesn't mean i must eat it at least once a week.)


The photogenic eunos cat i've featured before previously a few months ago.
It's always there, i just realised.


Ate thai food from the basil inn at downtowneast for the second time.
Not too sure if the food is authentic, but it is sure good for a comfort regular meal.


Another thing that i like is the milk plum. It's not easy to find in singapore after the china tainted milk incident.
The ones in the photo, found at downtowneast are really huge, but the powder and flesh are coarse (signifies lower quality).
Umeya has probably the best milk plums in singapore which has fine powder and smooth flesh. But their plums are often very tiny though.


It looked dead.


Rather dangerous if the driver is unaware and starts to drive the minibus while the cat is sleeping like a log.


Wake liao. But not entirely my fault, they were some people walking pass nosily too.


Doing scratching/stretching exercises. But the butt hit the minibus.


So it decided to change position.


Uncontrollably, it fell back to sleep.


Continued to sleep.

Week three.

Paktor in east coast.


It had been a really nice day.


Intentionally resized for unknown reasons.

The twenty-seventh month.

Began to calculate the future ahahs.
I hope it'll take less than nine years, by the way.

Last week of april.


I loled when i saw this stuffed toy hanging on my neighbour's bamboo.

An ordinary sleeping cat while i wanted to get some late snack from mcd.


I simply have to say that the mcd's spicy bbq chicken snack wrap taste 99% similar to kfc's cheesy bbq meltz.
Similar taste of not-crispy fried chicken.
Similar taste of the bbq sauce.
Similar taste of the flatbread skin.

Just lost my thumbdrive and didn't want another occurrence again.
This is attached in three segments. A hp charm hook, an old necklace and the nafa lanyard zz.


Aims for the day to go back school: return two national library books, return one school library book and submit my flash/web design for final assessment.

A takeaway thai food store in eunos interchange. Tried before a few times bah.


Eating outside-food for nearly 100% of the time, i have seen chopsticks that came in a pack of threes or a pack of one-only. But this is the worst set of chopsticks i've seen.


The food is damn cheap man, though i doubt the authenticity. A nice change from the normal mixed-veggie-rice, taste not bad too.
Only $2.50 for:
- tomyam fried rice/pineapple rice/thai kuay teow/thai beehoon
- two choices of meat and/or vegetables (but you have like only less than ten items to choose from)
- a complimentary cold chrysanthemum/barley drink.
Very affordable.
As in the pic, i chose a mix of tomyamrice+kwayteow, spicy long beans, sunny-side up and a barley (not shown).
